ETC Rat Be Nimble
I like my coffee like my sex... I PAY for it.

Stupid marketing tactics. You freeloading opportunists should all be ashamed of yourself; voting is an incentive in itself.

"You freeloading opportunists should all be ashamed of yourself; voting is an incentive in itself."

Yes, voting is an incentive in itself. And it's the most important right that we have in this country. And it's every citizen's civic duty. But don't be such a self-righteous pain, darling. ;-p

I've voted in every single election (national, local, primaries, etc.) since, and including, 1988, never needing other incentives. What is so wrong from getting a free cup of coffee from a company that never gets any of my money anyway. I like free. Nothing wrong with free. Plus, Starbucks is giving free to coffee to everybody, whether they voted or not.

Oh, I'll be a pain. I need my cross as a coffee stirrer right now, baby.

And, yes, I also voted in every election I was eligible for but never needed encouragement through the meddling of a corporate entity. I don't like such precedents, as any of the younger and impressionable (read: newly-registered and first-time) voters may think this is a trend and would need motivation for future elections.

...and they're still asking "Did you vote today" at the one right here by the office. I had to correct the woman behind the counter about the company's modification of the campaign.

That still does not dismiss Krispy Kreme, which requires you to wear one of those "I voted today" stickers.

Wasn't there some youtube video out in the beginning of the campaigning that slammed Republicans/Conservatives up the ass for, among other things, big business and killing off mom and pop places to put in big corporations.... and the video itself was a satire by liberals for the evils of the conservatives.

So I am quite sure there were NO Obama supporters getting free coffee today since none of them ever go to chain coffee places like Starbucks or Cariboo. And such places will cease to exist tomorrow depending on who wins.

You better do your Walmart shopping tonight too!

Yeah, I do remember something like that and the wahbulance had to be called because Republicans were going on about how it was a pot shot (akin to John Kerry and the Swift Boat incident four years ago).

I actually had to correct one of the baristas on the bribe tactics. She asked somebody ahead of me if they voted today when he wanted his free coffee. He said "yes" but I interrupted, stating that management rescinded the "free to voters" mandate and declared that everybody could get a free "tall" (their version of small) coffee regardless of their vote.

A boat? What? Was there a three hour tour involved?

Tall = small.... I love it.

LOL Three hour tour!

It's really dumb. Tall = Small. Grande = Medium. Veinti = Large (and veinti isn't even a word in Italian).

I'd of voted regardless and probably had drank some office sludge - but I was having such a rough morning dealing with idiots a free cup of coffee was nice, I did buy a muffin ;) The pumpkin creme cheese is really good!

See, that's the problem with the gimmick. It's not any type of advocacy for voting but a marketing technique to generate revenue from other in-store purchases. Shame on them for exploiting this!
